About Morgan Atkinson, Kentucky Documentary Producer

Morgan C. Atkinson writes and produces programs which explore and celebrate the human spirit. With each new project his goal is to increase understanding while evoking a greater sense of our common bonds. Entertaining is nice too.

In a career spanning more than 30 years, Atkinson has brought to life a diverse gallery of subjects, from the spiritual journey of Thomas Merton to Kentucky High-School Basketball. His documentaries have been seen frequently on PBS, both in Kentucky and nationwide since the late 1980’s.

Much of Morgan’s work has focused on remarkable people who live on the margins of society in an inspiring way. Some prime examples are those models of simple living, Anna and Harlan Hubbard; social justice pioneer, John Howard Griffin; rock musician Tim Krekel; the wisdom purveyor, Matthew Kelty, the monks of Gethsemani, and of course Thomas Merton, the internationally recognized Kentucky monk celebrated for his writings on contemplative spirituality, social justice issues and inter-religious dialogue.
